AUMELINA DELASIETE

INSTRUCTOR

Aumelina grew up with a very DIY mindset and started reconstructing hand-me-downs on her first sewing machine at age 9. She first attended Seattle Central as a Running Start student, completing her associates degree and then returning to attend the Apparel Manufacturing Program in 1999. Since 2001 she has worked in the design, development and production of men’s, young men’s, boys, girls and costume. She has also done freelance product development for women’s, costume and a few custom wedding dresses. She is keen on any work that is driven by process, technique, engineering and constantly fascinated by the sociological drive behind design and development. She enjoys working with the students in the AD&D program for their unique motivations and distinctive style aesthetics.

Educational Philosophy

In a technical professional skills program, everyone will come in with a different set of skills and experience. Part of the purpose of this program is to develop a common base level of skills and experience required in the industry. Because of this diversity of experience each student may find different aspects of the instruction and required techniques difficult for them. I believe that it is important to recognize your strengths as well as take note of the areas that will require more attention. Effort, curiosity and a continued willingness to expand your technical experiences and professional skills will generally provide sufficient know-how to get the course work done. I am here to help, to inform, guide and instruct. Please communicate any difficulties you are having with the course work so that we may approach developing your skill level together.
