Jackets and 60’s Inspired Dresses
This week, first year students took their creativity to the next level with two exciting projects- designing and creating their own jackets and custom fit 60’s inspired princess-seam dresses. For the dresses, students were put into groups and tasked with making a dress to fit one group member. After several muslins and fittings, they finally got the perfect fit!
The jacket project was a part of Construction 103- aimed to teach both practical sewing skills and the fundamentals of personal expression through fashion. Students had the freedom to design the jackets within certain guidelines- each needed to include pockets, a lining, and rib knit at the hem.
